Whether you’re navigating city streets, tackling hilly terrain, or simply enjoying a leisurely ride, the Maxfind MAX6 promises a smooth and powerful experience.
However, there are some caveats to this electric skateboard that I can’t look past.
In this Maxfind MAX6 review, we’ll dive into the features, benefits and pitfalls, providing a comprehensive look at what makes this electric skateboard stand out from the competition and where it falls short.
Maxfind MAX6 Review
Deck and Design
The Maxfind MAX6 features a sleek, minimalist deck design that is both visually appealing and functional.
The deck is an X-Composite Flex Deck, providing a solid and durable platform while maintaining a degree of flexibility for a smooth ride.
The design prioritizes user comfort with a slight concave shape that enhances grip and stability, ensuring you feel secure even at higher speeds.
Its matte finish adds a touch of sophistication, making it not only a high-performing board but also a stylish one.
It has a rubbery shock-absorbing griptape that sticks to your feet quite nicely and stays sticky even when wet.
Wheels
Equipped with 105mm Galaxy Cloudwheels, the Maxfind MAX6 is designed to handle various terrains with ease.
These larger-than-average wheels provide a comfortable ride by absorbing shocks from bumps and cracks on the road.
The wheel size also contributes to better stability, making the skateboard suitable for both beginners and experienced riders.
The high-quality polyurethane material ensures durability and offers excellent grip, enhancing overall control and safety.
You can also opt for the 90mm PU street wheels if you prefer a faster and more efficient ride.
Trucks
The trucks on the Maxfind MAX6 are precision-engineered to offer a balance between agility and stability.
They are crafted from robust materials, providing the necessary strength to handle the stresses of electric skateboarding.
These trucks allow for responsive turning, making it easy to navigate through crowded streets or tight corners.
The combination of sturdy construction and thoughtful design results in a smooth and controlled ride.
I’m not sure how I feel about the red accent on the trucks. They don’t affect the ride quality at all, I prefer symmetry as a personal preference. I’m also just not usually a fan of anything red.
Battery and Range
One of the standout features of the Maxfind MAX6 is its impressive battery life.
The board is powered by a high-capacity lithium-ion battery that offers up to 31 miles / 50km of range on a single charge.
This extended range makes it an excellent choice for long commutes or extended leisure rides.
The battery is efficiently designed to ensure consistent performance throughout its lifespan, and charging is straightforward and relatively quick, allowing you to get back on the road with minimal downtime.
Sadly, Maxfind decided to depart from their quick-swap battery feature which I have loved in their past products. In fact, it’s become very difficult to access the battery or electronics at all.
When I step on the board I can feel the battery pressing up against the griptape and bulging a little bit.
This is likely happening because the deck has too much flex for the solid battery pack.
This potential bending of the battery pack while riding does cause some concern for the batteries durability and safety.
Along the side of the battery enclosure are some ambient RGB lighting that you can manually switch on and off with the remote.
The lights cycle through a few colours and patterns but I couldn’t figure out how to set them to a certain colour or pattern.
Motors, Speed, and Hill Climbing
The dual belt-drive motors on the Maxfind MAX6 do provide a powerful ride.
With a top speed of 26 mph / 42kmh, this eSkateboard has plenty of power to enjoy.
The motors are not only about speed but also deliver impressive torque, making hill climbing a breeze.
Whether you’re tackling steep inclines or cruising on flat surfaces, the MAX6 handles it all with ease.
ESC and Remote
The Electronic Speed Controller (ESC) in the Maxfind MAX6 is tuned for smooth acceleration and braking.
This ensures a safe and predictable ride, which is crucial for both beginners and seasoned riders.
The remote control is simple, fitting comfortably in hand and providing intuitive control over speed and braking.
It features a clear display that shows battery life and speed, keeping you informed and in control at all times.
Mobile App
The Maxfind MAX6 is integrated with a mobile app, called Tuya.
It’s not a dedicated app for the MAX6, or Maxfind, it’s a universal app used to control many smart devices.
I tried to connect the MAX6 to the Tuya app, however, there are no instructions on how to do so in the User manual or on Maxfind’s website. I spent some time trying to figure it out for myself but had no luck.
If having an app is a prerequisite for you, I probably wouldn’t rely on the MAX6.
With the app you can control the settings for speed, torque and braking power. Apparently, but it’s yet to be tested.
Ride Experience and Overall Quality
Riding the Maxfind MAX6 is an enjoyable experience.
The combination of a flexible deck, large wheels, and powerful motors results in a smooth and responsive ride.
The board handles well at high speeds and remains stable and controllable.
Aside from the battery issue, the rest of the quality is fine. But the question is, how high on the list of priorities is battery safety for you?
There are a handful of accessories you can get for the MAX6 including a headlight and a carry handle.
They’re installed by undoing the truck bolts and placing the accessory on top of the plate at the nose/tail of the deck.
Final Thoughts
The Maxfind MAX6 is an electric skateboard that offers a blend of simplicity, comfort and performance.
Its speed, extended range, and flexy build quality make it a great choice for anyone looking to invest in an electric skateboard for commuting or leisurely rides.
It promises a lot with the app and ambient lighting, however the execution of these features feels unfinished.
And with the battery bulging issue, it’s hard for me to recommend.
