The Fastest Affordable Electric Skateboard

Meepo V3

Fastest Budget eBoard

Meepo V3 electric skateboard

Specs & Features

  • Top Speed: 28mph / 45kmh
  • Max Range: 11 miles / 18km
  • Hill Climb: 30% Grade
  • Deck Material: 7 layers of Canadian Maple
  • Wheels: 90mm 78A
  • Motors: 2x 540W Hub motors
  • Charge Time: 2 hours
  • Dimensions: 38" x 9"
  • Airline Friendly: No
  • Warranty: 6 months

The Meepo V3 is the most popular electric skateboard offered by Meepo and for good reason. Not only is it at a price that most people will be able to afford, it is also crammed with some amazing specs.

It edges out all others as the fastest budget electric skateboard under $500.

If you’re always running late, or just want to leave the house a little later so you can get a few extra minutes sleep, the Meepo V3 might be able to help you out.

You’ll be able to get to where you need to go fast! No more sitting in traffic or on busy public transport. Just jump on this thing and enjoy some thrilling speeds on your way to work or school.

The deck has a tiny bit of flex to it but is more on the stiff side so you’ll be less likely to get any wobbles from all that speed. You’ve also got raised edges on the deck which make it a whole lot easier to turn.

The enclosure is made of hardened plastic to help reduce the V3’s weight, however, it is still quite a heavy eboard, so make sure you take advantage of the handle on the deck. Also, the enclosure is a little LED display that shows you the battery level.

The V3 comes with the Meepo MR remote which has a big LED display that shows your speed, your total range, board and remote battery level, and the riding mode you’re in. It fits in your hand easily and uses a simple thumbwheel to control your speed.

Budget Electric Skateboard with the Best Range

Yecoo XJ

Best Range Budget eBoard

Yecoo XJ electric skateboard

Specs & Features

  • Top Speed: 25mph / 40kmh
  • Max Range: 18 miles / 29km
  • Hill Climb: 35% Grade
  • Deck Material: 8 layers of Maple
  • Wheels: 90mm
  • Motors: 2x 600W Hub motors
  • Charge Time: 2 hours
  • Dimensions: 38" x 9.6"
  • Airline Friendly: No
  • Warranty: 6 months

For such a cheap electric skateboard, it really doesn’t skimp out on specs. Although it is at the high end of the price scale of this list, you get a lot of value for what you pay for.

The range is far better than any other electric longboard at this price point. I don’t know how far you live from work or school, but I dare say you’ll be able to get there and maybe even back home in one charge.

The reason why the Yecoo XJ has the longest range out of all of the cheap electric skateboards on this list is because the entire underneath of the deck is filled with battery. This makes the deck really stiff, which is great for maintaining balance at high speeds, but it does mean you’ll feel a little more vibration from the road.

Luckily, the 90mm wheels do a great job of absorbing some of those vibrations and easily roll over most cracks in the road.

If you need, or just want, to be able ride long distances at a time, the Yecoo XJ could be the best electric skateboard choice for you.

  • Charge Time: 3 hours
  • Dimensions: 38" x 9.05"
  • Airline Friendly: No

The WowGo 2S is arguably one of the best electric skateboards for beginners. I might be biased because this was my first eboard and I absolutely loved it. It’s the eboard that led me to make this website. I’ve even done a full WowGo 2S review if you want to check it out.

The thing that makes it so easy to ride is the flexy convex deck. You can see in the picture above that the middle part of the deck is higher than ends. That helps to absorb a lot of vibrations and give you a silky-smooth ride.

The remote is simple to use without any bells and whistles so you can focus on the fun part, eskating. The acceleration and braking curves are gradual without any jerkiness so you will always feel confident while riding.

It has insane top speed and plenty of range to go with it. You’ll be zipping around town with ease getting to where you need to be in no time.

If you’ve never eskated before, the WowGo 2S is a great place to start and has room for you to grow into as you become a better eskater.

  • Top Speed: 28mph / 45kmh
  • Max Range: 15 miles / 25km
  • Hill Climb: 30% Grade
  • Deck Material: 8 layers of hard rock maple
  • Wheels: 96mm
  • Charge Time: 2.5 hours

It has some of the best speed and range at this price and has an acceleration curve that you really need to be ready for otherwise you’ll be seated on your ass.

The deck has the perfect middle ground between flexy and stiff. The extra layer of hard maple keep it steady, while the convex shape allows for a little extra flex. It’s ideal for riding at high speeds.

  • Max Range: 7 miles / 11km
  • Hill Climb: 15% Grade
  • Motors: Single hub motor
  • Charge Time: 2 hours
  • Warranty: 6 months

The Acton Blink S-R is a little pocket-rocket. It is compact and lightweight while packing a decent amount of power.

Although it doesn’t quite meet the specs of some of the other eboard in this category, it’s reliability. company reputation and customer service make the S-R the best electric skateboard under $400.

This board is great for replacing those short trips to the station, cruising down the street to meet friends or having to pop into the supermarket to pick up a few things.

It is very agile due to its little kicktail which allows you to tictac around tight corners or drop of curbs if needed.

The S-R has integrated front, rear and side LED’s to help you be seen while riding at night. They’re not quite bright enough to allow you to see very far in front of you, but at least being easily seen is a plus.

The Apsuboard V3 is one of the best value for money electric skateboards out there at the moment. For under $300, its specs are up there with some of the more expensive eboards.

The deck has a medium flex to it. More than the Meepo V3 but a bit less than a Boosted Board.

It also has a handle cutout for you to use while carrying it. Even though they look a bit weird, they’re always nice to have.

Because this electric skateboard is so affordable, it is a great option for a first-time buyer. The Apsubaord V3 offers the perfect eskating experience so you’ll be able to figure out if it’s for you without breaking the bank.

It packs enough power for children to have a ripper of a time without you being worried about them falling off and doing any serious damage.

It has smaller 75mm wheels compared to most other eboards which means you’ll be feeling a few more vibrations than normal, but it also makes it easier to turn. Especially with the kicktail to help out too.

The beginner riding mode limits the acceleration and speed of the eboard so that new riders can gradually build up their confidence before moving up to the faster modes.

The Voyager Neutrino electric skateboard is easily the best electric skateboard under $200 and is ideal for kids.

The Swagskate NG3 is a very unique electric skateboard. It doesn’t come with a remote control. Instead, it utilises kick-assist technology to power the motors.

It has two different rides modes. The first is Kick-to-Cruise which propels you further than you normally would on a regular kick push board but eventually slows down. The other is Endless Mode where you kick push to get going then the NG3 will maintain that speed until you brake with your foot or jump off.

It’s a tiny eboard making it easy to stow under your seat on the train or bus and under your desk at school. It’s especially great for getting around college campuses.

It also has an LED light strip at the rear of the board to help you to be seen when riding.

It’s the best electric skateboard under $100 by far.

Buying Considerations for Cheap Electric Skateboards

I imagine you might think that buying a cheap electric skateboard means you’ll be receiving an inferior product. Well, I can assure you that is not always the case.

In the last few years, the eskate industry has become extremely competitive with more and more manufacturers popping up everywhere. This has sparked a fury of innovation and price cuts bringing the cost of manufacturing an electric skateboard down while increasing the quality of the components.

Nowadays, you can get an affordable electric skateboard without sacrificing quality or features.

The big brands like Boosted and Evolve can still offer a premium product at a premium price because you pay for things like brand trust, customer service, next-level component quality and detailed quality assurance testing.

Budget electric skateboards don’t have the level of quality that the premium boards have, but they don’t really need to. The cheaper eboards are still great quality.

Features like LED lights, mobile apps, replaceable wheels, swappable batteries used to be reserved for the more expensive eboards, but with innovation, we are starting to see a lot of those features being offered by the budget electric skateboard companies.

The performance specs between a premium brand and a budget electric skateboard brand are nearly non-existent. You can pay a lot less for the same, if not more, performance of a premium board by choosing a good quality cheap eboard.

A big one to note is that in some cases, the budget eboard brands don’t have the level of customer support that you might expect. This is because most of the affordable electric skateboard companies are from China and they don’t quite meet the expectations of westerners when it comes to customer service. A lot of it is due to translation errors and timezone restrictions which makes communication just that little bit harder.

I must say though, that the companies in China are getting a lot better at servicing their customers.

All-in-all, buying a cheap electric skateboard won’t leave you disappointed. You still get great quality, top performance, interesting features and an improving level of customer service for a fraction of the price.

When just starting out in the eskate game, or when buying for your kids, buying an affordable electric skateboard is the perfect place to start.

There really is no need to jump up into the premium range right away. Test the waters here and upgrade after you realise how much you love it!
